Los adverbios de cantidad (quantifiers) son palabras o frases que sirven para expresar cantidad inespecíficas o generalizadas y son usados con sustantivos contables y no contables.
Quantifiers con sustantivos contables: many-not many (muchos/no muchos)
- How many people are going to participate? (¿Cuántas personas van a participar?)
- Too many, right? (Demasiados, ¿correcto?)
- Many of us like dancing (A Muchos de nosotros nos gusta bailar)
- There will be a lot of dancers. (Habrán muchos bailadores)
- We need to buy some things for the farewell party. (Necesitamos comprar algunas cosas para la fiesta de despedida)
- Some other friends are surely coming, too. (De Seguro, Algunos otros amigos participarán también)
- Just a few boys drink wine. (Solos unos pocos chicos toman vino)
- I don´t have any good CDs at home. (No tengo ningún buen CD en la casa)
Quantifiers con sustantivos no contables: much-not mucho (mucho/no mucho)
- How much money do we have for our shopping? (¿Qué cantidad de dinero tenemos para nuestra compra?)
- We still have a lot to do. (Aún tenemos mucho que hacer)
- I’d buy a lot of cider. (Compraría bastante cidra)
- …for that amount of people. (…para esa cantidad de personas)
- I have collected some money from them as well. (Pues, he colectado algún dinero de ellos.)
- I also have some cash here with me. (También tengo algo de efectivo aquí conmigo)
- We need to buy some wine or any other drink. (Necesitamos comprar algo de vino u otra bebida)
- Maybe some salad, cheese, ham. (Es posible que algo de ensalada, queso, jamón)
- You can bring some music, too. (Puedes traer alguna música, también)
- That’s enough. (Es suficiente)
- We don’t have much time. (No temenos mucho tiempo)
- I think I have a little of wine at home. (Creo que tengo un poco de vino en casa)
- I don’t think we have too much in cash. (No creo que tengamos tanto en efectivo)
- We’d better not buy much wine. (Mejor no compramos mucho vino)
- We don’t have enough room. (no tenemos suficiente espacio)
- We need no wine at all. (No necesitamos ningún vino)
Quantifers utlizados con sustantivos contables y no contables:
