  USO DEL WILL.

 WILL es un verbo modal que se utiliza para expresar FUTURO.

Ahora nos enfocaremos en el uso del Will. ¿Qué podemos expresar?:

FUTURE PREDICTION: (believe to be facts) Esta es una predicción. Algo que se da por hecho.

  1. a) I think that Republicans will win the Elections next Month!
  2. b) He will be an excellent doctor in the future.

POSSIBILITY: Posibilidad.

  1. a) I think I will travel around the World!
  2. b) Paul will probably pass the exam. He has studied a lot.

PROMISE: Promesa.

  • Tom, you have an exam next week. Promise me that you  will study a lot. Yes, mom, I will.
  • I’ll call you back next Sunday.

REQUEST: Petición.

  • Would you marry me, Mary? Of course, I will. (formal de Will)
  • Will you visit me when you come back from Spain next week? Yes, I will for sure.

INVITATION: Invitación.

  • Would you like a cup of coffee?

REFUSAL:

  • I won’t participate in the Festival next Year.
  • I won’t do your homework.

SUDDEN EXCUSE: Excusa repentina.

  • I won’t be there on time since there is too much traffic.
  • I won’t participate in the conquest.

OFFERS: Oferta.

  • I’ll prepare a sandwich for you in a couple of minutes.
  • I’ll watch your children today.

FUTURE CONDITIONALS (first conditional):

  1. a)  If I study, I will pass the exam.
  2. b) If you don’t hurry up, we will miss the flight.

RAPID DECISION:  THINK usualmente acompaña a WILL cuando la decisión es repentina.

  • I am hungry. I think I will have lunch.
  • I think I will study for the exam this afternoon.

FACTS:

  • The store will close at 9 o’clock.
  • You children will be the future of this country!

WILL with time clause: usado con expresiones de tiempo.

  • Sally will call you back as soon as she comes.
